我是一個演員，也是一個導演，拍出一個電影，如果觀眾看完以後沒有睡著，我已經很安慰了；如果觀眾看了還笑，我就很高興很高興；如果觀眾看完，還會和你握手，並恭喜你，那麼我就很高興很高興很高興：如果觀眾還能把裡面的台詞都念出來，你知道我有多高興?

沒有人是小人物，每個人都有他的影響力。

我喜歡演戲，不為掙錢、出名，只挑喜歡的電影才拍，求的是一種精神上的發泄、平衡。可以借此毫無保留地將壓抑的感情、情緒表露出來而又沒有人知道那是我。人們只知道我將角色演得很好，但其實內裏的東西全是我。因此，演完戲後內心會很舒服。

Perhaps I'm not a good actor, but I would be even worse at doing anything else.
我或許不是個好演員，但我做其他事可能會更糟。

I go to Paris, I go to London, I go to Rome, and I always say, “There's no place like New York. It's the most exciting city in the world now. That's the way it is. That's it.”

別人告訴我說一個天才可以製造自己的機會。事實上，一個人的深切期望不但可以創造自己的機會，甚至可以創造自己的天才！

通常在最顛簸的路上，智慧、經驗、自省能力會更豐富。 

You have to believe in yourself, that’s the secret. Even when I was in the orphanage, when I was roaming the street trying to find enough to eat, even then I thought of myself as the greatest actor in the world.
祕密是你必需相信自己，即便當我在孤兒院，當我在街上遊走想找到足夠的食物，即便那個時候，我都把自己看作是全世界最棒的演員。

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
讓事情開始的方法是停止說話，動手去做

People call me a perfectionist, but I'm not. I'm a rightist. I do something until it's right, and then I move on to the next thing.
人們都說我是完美主義者，但我不是。我是保守主義者，我只是做一件事直到覺得做正確了，然後再接著做下一件事。

But I dare not think too far into the future on the risk that I'll miss the present.
我不敢冒險想太多未來的事，那會讓我錯過現在。

I'm curious about other people. That's the essence of my acting. I'm interested in what it would be like to be you.

我對別人充滿好奇，那是我演戲的核心，我喜歡想像要是變成你會是什麼滋味。

No film has captivated my imagination more than King Kong. It had such a profound affect on me as a 9-year-old that it made me want to make films. The next day I got my parents' Super 8 movie camera and started to do stop-motion animation with a clay dinosaur.

沒有任何電影比『金剛』更令我神昏顛倒。它深深影響當時才9歲的我，並讓我立志要拍電影。第二天，我得到了父母的Super 8攝像機，並開始用黏土做的恐龍製作定格動畫。

The best actors instinctively feel out what the other actors need, and they just accommodate it.

最好的演員能夠本能地感受其他演員的需要，他所做的就只是順應而已。

拍電影不僅要用大腦，還要用感覺。其實每個人都可以拍電影，拍不同風格的電影。

To me, the whole point of acting is to experiment and learn-it's like living hundreds of lives in one lifetime.

對我來說，演戲的意義就是一次次的實驗與學習，在我的生命裡感受不同人生的悲歡離合。

 

The script is what you've dreamed up-this is what it should be. The film is what you end up with.

夢想始於劇本，而終於電影。
